This volcano is one of the most visited in Guatemala. With 2,552m (8,373ft) above the sea level it's been active since 1965. It takes around 1.5 hour to hike from the base to the top. Enjoy beautiful views toward other volcanoes and from the top you may also see the south coastline. This active volcano has a Strombolian activity, but occasional Plinian eruptions also occur. A few of its eruptions have showered Guatemala City and surroundings with ash.
Today you will be transferred to Pacaya volcano on the outskirts of Guatemala City. The hike to the viewpoint overlooking the flowing lava fields takes around 1.5-2 hours and is very gentle with a wide trail. After the hike, you'll be transferred to a nearby ecolodge and spa for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation in the natural hot spring and pampering at the spa. You will be transferred back to your hotel.
